Bottle Lungs

We were studying the Respiratory System. We learned about the diaphragm, and how it helps us breathe. So we made a model using: A plastic pop bottle cut in half Two balloons Tape Scissors Using the scissors we cut the top of one balloon off. Then we put the second balloon down through the top, and bent the excess over the nozzle. With the first balloon we stretched it over the bottom of the pop bottle and taped it there. The bottom balloon represents the diaphragm. When you pull it down the inside balloon inflates represents us inhaling. When you push the balloon up the inside balloon deflates representing us exhaling. Kasi & Hattie
